It was a day full of information about the Minamata disease. It was officially recognised in 1956 and the source of the problem was due to Chisso, a major and huge factory, discharging contaminated water into the sea. It contained a high amount of mercury and it killed much marine life. As people ate the fishes, they took in and accumulated high amount of mercury and eventually, it destroyed the nervous system. It led to many disorders. We went to a memorial, dedicated to all the people who died from the disease and went to a museum to learn more about ti. Lastly, we went to Eco-Net to learn more about how to make use of waste materials to create something useful. For instance, they use used cooking oil to create soap. I learnt many things today especially to value and cherish what you have.
